Meet Core Value Winner: Taylor Thirlwell - September 2018

September 19, 2018

Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. This month, Taylor Thirlwell has "lived" our core value of "Consider it Done."

Here's his story:

Employees who are always willing to go above and beyond to get tasks accomplished – even those hurled at them at the last minute – are worth their weight in gold.

Whether it’s obtaining quotes that are needed ASAP or a technical issue that needs fixing, being willing to give it their full attention at a moment’s notice – without any complaints and with a pleasant demeanor – are highly valued traits.

To his grateful co-workers, Taylor Thirlwell is the very definition of “grace under pressure.” They know that whatever the task entrusted to him, they can “Consider it Done.”

Here, in his own words, is a little more information about Taylor:

You've been with Schwartz Insurance Group for over a year now. What's the most important thing you've learned from a client or fellow employee?

The most important thing I've learned at Schwartz is how to work together with a team to accomplish a goal, and to always be willing to ask for help when it's needed.

You always come through for your teammates when they have an urgent last minute request. What's your advice to others when it comes to keeping cool under pressure?

Have a clear list of tasks and keep it updated as much as possible, and try to prioritize the most important thing on that list. Also, marking off tasks that I've completed makes me feel accomplished and leaves me with a positive feeling about the day.

What's your favorite thing about living in Louisville?

Louisville has a diverse amount of activities to offer, while also remaining somewhat small and easy to get around. From concerts to sporting events to festivals, Louisville has just about everything you could want.

Describe your ideal vacation ... active, leisurely ... near, far?

My ideal vacation is something very leisurely and low key. Most often it is staying home and getting things done that I wouldn't otherwise have time for during the work week. When I do travel, I still take it pretty easy and try to enjoy my surroundings as much as possible.

If you could no longer work in the insurance field, what type of profession would you like to try?

I would like to do some type of work internationally. I like to travel (despite my answer above) and would enjoy seeing different locations and their cultures.

Are there any recent accomplishments you'd like to brag about - personal or professional?

I have participated in two 5K run/walk races over the past few months and plan on doing more over the fall and early winter. They are very challenging but I feel rewarded each time I cross the finish line.

Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Taylor - and thank you for doing such an exemplary job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
