Core Value Award - September 2022

Core Value Award - September 2022

September 08, 2022

Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. For September, Jesse Abbott has "lived" our core value of "Building on a Legacy."

Here's her story:

Leadership is critical for business success. Good leaders help to organize, prepare and inspire every associate to achieve their goals. Daily fires always occur, but good leaders stay on task and on target.

Our client advocate teams care about service, yet a good leader helps inspire continuous improvement. Paying attention to details, being thoughtful, and focusing on the team’s mutual success means everyone can benefit.

Jesse Abbott has proven she has what it takes on a path to great leadership. She delivers for her clients while successfully guiding a team. Buddy would be proud of her growth, recognizing she is Building on a Legacy!

Here, in her own words, is a little more information about Jesse:

You’ve been a valued Schwartz team member for many years now. What's the most important thing you've learned from a co-worker or client?

Small talk makes me uncomfortable, but in my work I have to be able to talk with anyone, anywhere. I once received a very valuable tip on small talk with strangers - strategies I use to this day. I still don't like small talk, but I hate awkward silences and this tip does the trick!

What do you find most challenging about being a Business Key Advisor? What do you find the most rewarding?

Staying on top of proactive goals is always challenging. If you don't prepare for the future, all you are doing is taking care of emergencies in the present. Finding coverage gaps and getting my insureds protected properly is the most rewarding part of my job.

Let's pretend you never began working in the insurance field. What career would you have chosen?

I would have been a theatrical costume designer, putting my creative side to work.

What's your favorite movie of all time?

Earth Girls Are Easy, starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis.

Who gets your vote for the greatest rock band of all time?

Queen!

Are you a Louisville native? If so, we have to ask: UK or U of L?

Definitely a Louisville native - so of course I'm for U of L.

If you could vacation anywhere in the world (money being no object), where would it be and why?

Kona Coast of the Big Island, Hawaii. I love to swim. They have some of the clearest waters in the world, and very private, isolated beaches. I'd love the peace and serenity with generous doses of scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, beachcombing and family picnics on the beach.

What adjective best describes you?

Creative!

Pretend you could go back in time. What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?

To thine own self be true.

Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Jesse - and thank you for doing such a terrific job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
