Core Value Award Winner Interview - Jenna Edington - April 2025

April 08, 2025

Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. For the month of April, Jenna Edington has "lived" our core value of "Consider it Done."

Busy seasons require effective planning. Without it, we get overwhelming, stressful and unpleasant times as a result.

June is the most hectic month for Employee Benefit renewals. Several association plans aligned many of our clients’ benefits on this date, so the lead-up is challenging. But we know in advance that June 1st will be demanding, and with good planning, we can act quickly to keep all our processes timely, eliminate stress for the team and, most importantly, deliver a great experience for our clients. Win-win-win!

Since Jenna Edington took the initiative to prepare all the little tasks in advance, we were able to deliver on the big promises at “go time” – Consider it Done!

Here, in her own words, is a little more information about Jenna:

You've been with Schwartz Insurance Group for over seven years now. What do you find most rewarding about your role as Benefits Advisor? Most challenging?

There are two aspects to my position that I find most rewarding. First, I love being able to share good news and save our clients money when we find lower quotes during open enrollment. Secondly, I enjoy giving presentations to employees that explain their benefits in a way they can easily understand. It’s rewarding to help others grasp difficult concepts.  What I find most challenging is having to play the “messenger” when it’s necessary to inform employers about their tough renewal increases.

Do you have any personal interests or hobbies?

I enjoy decorating, gardening, reading, sewing, trying new recipes, as well as spending time with my family, friends and two dogs, Heidi and Ruby.

If you could vacation anywhere in the world (money being no object), where would you visit?

If I could go anywhere, I would really like to travel to Greece.

What's your favorite book of all time?

My favorite book is called “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls. It’s a memoir about her unconventional childhood and growing up with parents who love their nomadic lifestyle.  The author ends up becoming a very successful adult. Her parents stay homeless because they are content with their lifestyle and their freedom. It’s an uplifting and memorable book.

Rock and roll or country music? Or do you prefer a different genre?

I prefer country music, especially Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood.

Tell us about the pets in the Edington household. Feel free to brag!

We have a small Beagle/Jack-Russell mix named Heidi, who I rescued from a shelter. She is now about 14 years old! She is black and white and has such a sweet, calm demeanor. We also adopted a mini–Goldendoodle named Ruby. She has red curly hair, but her face, paws and tail are white. Both dogs love to play with their ball outside and they especially love to make a mess of their toy basket in the living room!

Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Jenna - and thank you for doing such an amazing job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
