The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. For the month of October, Ray Hatter has "lived" our core value of "Building on a Legacy."
Here's his story:
Major life choices are seldom easy to contemplate, and the path forward is often uncertain – but despite any difficulty, leaders make the wisest decisions they can.
Selling a business is a major life decision that certainly brings about changes that can be unsettling. There are so many details, large and small, that a leader must navigate in transitioning an insurance business. It’s not for the faint of heart – it requires forethought, determination and trust.
Despite all the unknown factors that this major change entails, Ray Hatter took all the slings and arrows with amazing calm and fortitude. He showed us all – including his mother and father – that this step is Building on a Legacy!
Here, in his own words, is a little more information about Ray:
How long have you worked in the insurance industry?
I have worked as an insurance agent in our family agency for 36 years.
Are you a Louisville native? If so, we have to ask: UK or U of L?
I am from Louisville, but I graduated from WKU so it would be hard to choose UK or U of L.
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you visit?
One of the most beautiful places I have ever been … Santorini, Greece. I would enjoy going back there again.
Pretend you could go back in time. What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
Buy more stock!
Do you have any personal interests or hobbies?
I have been a musician most of my life. Guitar is my primary instrument. Over my life I have played in several bands and even worked on a few recording projects.
What adjective best describes you?
Conscientious.
