Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values ... typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. This month, Markina Thompson has "lived" our core value of "There’s Only Opportunity." Here's her story:
Being new has its advantages. You get to make a “first impression” on those around you. You may even gain a fresh start in your new surroundings.
Our commercial service team was solid, with a 35 year veteran and another with over a decade of experience at SIG. And yet, as is always true, we found that There’s Only Opportunity in adjusting procedures and simplifying small business processes. We’re lucky to have a new proactive, organized - and trusted - team member who is calm under pressure. Markina Thompson has been all that!
Here, in her own words, is a little more information about Markina:
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I have been at Schwartz Insurance Group for just three months, but have 15 years’ experience in commercial insurance. I am the mother of three girls and one boy.
What’s the best thing about working for Schwartz Insurance Group?
The people are caring and very organized.
What are your hobbies or personal interests?
I enjoy working out, crocheting, sewing and roller skating.
What’s the most important thing you have learned from a client or a fellow SIG employee?
To be patient and listen (two very important things in this business).
What might others be surprised to learn about you?
I boogie roller skate (old school). I am also part of a Women’s Flag Football league where my position is Rush (defense) and wideout receiver (offense).
Dogs or cats?
Dogs.
The book or the movie?
I like both.
What makes you truly happy?
My kids.
