Selling insurance is hard. It’s not the first topic on most people’s desired discussion list and an advisor must work hard to endear themselves to every single client.
It takes a unique mindset to succeed as a producer. Learning coverage details, sales skills and having perseverance all add up to greater potential – it’s gratifying to see someone grow and embrace opportunity beyond their current comfort zone. It leads to success and a stellar career!
August was a milestone month for Ben Magnus! He had a career high in sales, he closed his first commercial account, and heis helping us test a new AI quoting system. There’s only opportunity!
Here, in his own words, is a little more information about Ben:
You’ve been with us for over a year now – what has been the biggest highlight of your first year?
I have been able to keep tabs on how much I have been able to save my clients. To date I have been able to save clients nearly $30,000 dollars during my first year!
What do you enjoy most about your role as Strategic Advisor?
I love being able to talk with people and meet them where they are. I enjoy being able to help people and guide them in the right direction to best cover their assets and protect their future.
What’s a skill you have that might surprise your coworkers?
I speak Spanish (working on becoming fluent again)! And probably more surprising is that I knit in my free time. I learned how to when I was in the 3rd grade and I have done it ever since! I even keep needles in my desk drawer for when I need to relax at work.
If you weren’t doing your current job, what career do you think you would have pursued?
If I was not an insurance agent, I would have likely been a boat mechanic - it is what my dad has done for 37 years, and it brings us a lot of joy to see something fixed.
Do you have any hobbies or personal interests you’d like to share?
My favorite pastime or hobby would likely involve my love of water. I love being on a boat or going fishing. If it floats, I want to be on it. I also love working on small engines.
If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you like to go?
I would love to vacation in Colombia or in the country of Georgia. I studied abroad in Colombia for several years and I have many friends there. And Georgia because of its deep roots in world history-it was the birthplace of wine!
Do you prefer books or movies? What’s your favorite?
I do like movies, but books are better in my opinion. My favorite book would have to be anything written by Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher who helped create what we now understand to be modern moral ethics.
Who gets your vote for the greatest rock and roll band?
My vote for greatest rock band in general would be Led Zepplin or Van Halen. But other compelling choices would be either Chicago or Electric Light Orchestra. And Queen, too. Hard to pick a favorite…
