Meet Core Value Award Winner: Lisa Burns - October 2020

October 20, 2020

Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. This month, Lisa Burns has "lived" our core value of "Consider it Done."

Here's her story:

Technology can be a great thing, but it can also be frustrating. You work hard to set something up the best way possible ... but, soon enough, “issues” arise and a better way emerges. It’s a constant evolution.

When some feedback arose about issues with our phone system, we were fortunate to have a bulldog receive it and act on it fully. In fact, by following up, digging deeper and literally, steamrolling over every hesitation from our vendor, we will all now benefit!

This dogged pursuit of total resolution is what the agency is known for and Lisa Burns is a wonderful example of the Core Value "Consider it Done!"

Here, in her own words, is a little more information about Lisa:

You’ve been Schwartz’s Director of First Impressions for many years. What do you find most rewarding about your role?

I love helping people and getting them to the right person - but it can be challenging sometimes!

If you could vacation anywhere in the world (money being no object), where would you visit?

I would love to visit Scotland - it's on my bucket list.

What’s your favorite hobby or pastime?

My favorite hobby is working on crafty projects for my house to improve my home's decor.

Are you a Louisville native? What do you like most about living in the Derby City?

I am a Bardstown, Kentucky native but I grew up in Connecticut. I moved back to Kentucky and have lived in Louisville for 27 years. I love that Louisville is a small city but it has so much to offer - there is so much to do here, as well as in the entire state of Kentucky. This is my home.

If you could go back in time and give your eighteen-year-old self a bit of advice, what would it be?

I would tell myself to learn as much as you can and travel abroad. Don't sweat the small stuff and count your blessings every day.

What adjective best describes you?

Confident!

What’s your favorite book of all time?

"The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.

Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Lisa - and thank you for doing such an amazing job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
