Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. For the month of March, Taylor Thirlwell has "lived" our core value of "Consider it Done."
Here's his story:
Change is the name of the game in insurance, and flexibility is the key to successfully serving clients and supporting your fellow teammates.
As our long-term Director of First Impressions was stepping out of that role, we questioned who would be willing to take on some of those responsibilities. Basic tasks like distributing the mail are critical to day-to-day operations. It was fortunate that we have a team-oriented, collaborative environment, with someone willing and able to act!
Taylor Thirlwell accepted this new responsibility in short order. He took it on to ensure the balance of tasks did not cause the team any worry. Consider it Done!
Here, in his own words, is a little more information about Taylor:
You've been with Schwartz Insurance Group for several years now. What's the most important thing you've learned from a client or fellow employee?
The most important thing I've learned at Schwartz is how to work together with a team to accomplish a goal, and to always be willing to ask for help when it's needed.
You always come through for your teammates when they have an urgent last-minute request. What's your advice to others when it comes to keeping cool under pressure?
Have a clear list of tasks and keep it updated as much as possible – and try to prioritize the most important thing on that list. Also, marking off tasks that I've completed makes me feel accomplished and leaves me with a positive feeling about the day.
What's your favorite thing about living in Louisville?
Louisville has a diverse number of activities to offer, while also remaining somewhat small and easy to get around. From concerts to sporting events to festivals, Louisville has just about everything you could want.
Describe your ideal vacation ... active, leisurely ... near, far?
My ideal vacation is something very leisurely and low key. Most often, it is staying home and getting things done that I wouldn't otherwise have time for during the work week. When I do travel, I still take it pretty easy and try to enjoy my surroundings as much as possible.
If you could no longer work in the insurance field, what type of profession would you like to try?
I would like to do some type of work internationally. I like to travel (despite my answer above) and would enjoy seeing different locations and their cultures.
Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Taylor - and thank you for doing such an exemplary job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
