Meet Core Value Winner: Charlie Stoddard - December 2015

December 10, 2015

Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values ... typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. This month, Charlie Stoddard has "lived" our core value of "There's Only Opportunity." Here's his story:

On Broadway, they say “the show must go on!”  It must hold true on Breckenridge Lane as well …

Despite being out on disability over the last month and unable to get around town to see anyone directly , it was clear to Charlie Stoddard that the show must, in fact, go on!  It’s Open Enrollment and people need their expert.

In the process of taking care of prospects and clients, Charlie has managed to help those individuals and seniors who need his expertise.  Along the way, he passed by his annual sales goal and recorded a great year. There’s Only Opportunity!

Here, in his own words, is a little more information about Charlie:

Charlie, you often get cards and letters from your clients telling you how pleased they are with you and with Schwartz Insurance Group. Why do you think these clients are so happy?

I believe that a resounding accolade in the thank you letters I get are for my patience, knowledge and help in selecting and explaining insurance plans. Clients appreciate someone who listens and understands their needs and makes suggestions based on those. I truly enjoy helping people, and selling insurance makes me happy because I truly believe I am helping someone.

What advice would you give to someone who's just starting out in the insurance business?

I would recommend that they find a type of insurance that they can truly specialize in, and make that a priority. Many of my sales come from referrals because I have extensive knowledge in the health, life and senior market. I also sell basic personal lines and commercial lines to help round out my client base.

I would also suggest they take an interest in their clients rather than in just making a sale. Talking to people and building relationships will produce opportunities for continuing sales.

Any resolutions for the New Year?

My resolution for the New Year is  for my wife and myself to stay healthy and not have any more surgeries or hospitalizations, and to finally take a vacation. We had to cancel two trips this year due to both of us having surgery.

Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Charlie - and thank you for doing such a great job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
