Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. This month, Markina Thompson has "lived" our core value of "Building on a Legacy."
Here's her story:
A team player by any definition is someone who is willing to help out their teammates - and this includes sharing valuable knowledge to help improve each team's productivity and efficiency.
When it became clear training was needed for a client database management platform, this Business Manager volunteered to share her expertise. She spent hours each week giving every individual team member personal attention to make sure their training was optimal.
Markina Thompson's open availability, organizational skills, responsiveness and enthusiasm made the process both valuable and enjoyable for everyone. Her positive, can-do attitude is a winning attribute for "Building on a Legacy!"
Here, in her own words, is a little more information about Markina:
You've been a Schwartz Insurance team member for five years now. What do you find most challenging about being a Business Advisor? What do you find most rewarding?
Well, I've been working in the insurance arena for almost twenty years. Keeping track of ever-changing coverages and making sure my clients are informed of these changes, along with new coverage options, can be quite a task. But I am always up for a challenge! I find it rewarding when I can solve an issue in the agency to make things run more smoothly, or when I've helped a client with coverage and billing issues and they are happy with the end results.
What adjective best describes you?
Hard-working and motivated! (I could not pick just one adjective since these two things go hand-in-hand with regards to describing myself.)
Do you like sports?
I LOVE sports! I play on a women's flag football team, and I also enjoy roller skating.
A question that must be asked: UK or UofL?
UofL, of course! (What is UK?)
If you could go back in time and give your eighteen-year-old self a bit of advice, what would it be?
Stay focused on yourself, keep your head up, go for that track scholarship!
What's your favorite movie of all time?
"Splash" - with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah.
Are you a dog person or a cat person?
I love dogs!
What brings you true happiness?
My kids! I am the mother of three girls and one boy.
Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Markina - and thank you for doing such a great job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
