Every month, Schwartz Insurance Group selects a peer-nominated associate to receive a Core Value Award. The winner is chosen because they "lived" one of our agency's core values - typically an event or accomplishment above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers. For the month of January, Tonya Cosper has "lived" our core value of "Success Will Come."
Here's her story:
Client circumstances can be easy or challenging. A $1 million claim on a $6,000 policy is a textbook case of challenging. The entire market becomes very risk-averse!
A very good client who is also a good friend was in that very predicament. Virtually no carriers were willing to entertain an “opportunity” to secure a risk that could lead to that type of payout. We convinced the client to reduce – and eventually eliminate – that risk, but still no luck. Finally, persistence paid off and we were able to secure a viable, though short-term, solution.
All the while, Tonya Cosper kept the client informed, kept the process moving and kept her cool. She fully embodied the value of Success Will Come!
Here, in her own words, is a little more information about Tonya:
You joined Team Schwartz in 2024. What are some of the things you find rewarding so far about working with your teammates?
This team is experienced, knowledgeable, and I like knowing they are here to support one another. They have each been truly welcoming and helpful.
What adjective best describes you?
I would choose the adjective “steady” to describe myself. I hope those who know me well would say I am someone they can depend on.
If you could vacation anywhere in the world – money being no object – where would you visit?
In the spring of 2020, we had planned to visit Italy, and well…no trip. So that would still be my dream vacation – Florence and Tuscany.
Pretend you could travel back in time to visit your 18-year-old self. What advice would you impart?
Don’t be in such a hurry. Slow down so you can appreciate this age and time.
Do you have any hobbies or personal interests?
I like hiking and playing golf. I dabble in lots of crafty things, including baking and decorating cakes and cookies.
What’s your favorite movie of all time? Or do you prefer books?
I am a fan of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I have read the book, but I love the A&E adaptation that originally aired as a British mini-series.
Are there any pets in the Cosper household?
Too many! I have my German Shorthair Pointer, Jasper, and a cat named Collie. We even have chickens. Currently, we are also hosting my girls’ dogs and cats. At various times in the past, besides the chickens, we have raised turkeys, pigs, angora bunnies and ducks.
What’s your favorite musical genre?
I have a broad taste in music. My favorite depends on the time of day, season, or my mood.
Congratulations on your Core Value Award, Tonya - and thank you for doing such a terrific job for Schwartz Insurance Group. You are appreciated!
